Hey lovelies and happy Friday!! I first want to give a big congratulations to Katie Elizabeth on the birth of her beautiful baby girl- she is absolutely precious! I’ve had quite the busy week at work so this 3-day weekend couldn’t be coming at a better time. I haven’t done a Five on Friday in quite a while so let’s jump in and I’ll tell you what’s been on my mind lately!
In case you missed it, I shared this fun patriotic look on the blog this week. It’s time to bust out the stars, stripes, and all things red, white & blue for the holiday. In my case, I’ll also be lighting up some of our leftover wedding sparklers! No big plans for us this year, probably just grilling out and watching the big fireworks show at the uptown baseball stadium. The first part of summer has been pretty relaxed for me, but I’m looking forward to more traveling in July & August 🙂
So you all know I’m a pretty big Bachelor fan and that’s pretty much the only thing that makes Monday’s doable. Well, the past two weeks I’ve finished season one of UnReal on Hulu and immediately started season two. It started on Lifetime last year and is a drama about the behind-the-scenes production side of a show like The Bachelor and y’all… it’s SO freaking good. Have any of y’all watched?!? It definitely shows how involved the producers really are throughout the whole process and how they’re the ones that often stir the pot in the house. The creator was an associate producer for The Bachelor and you can read more about how the show started here.
Okay so… I have to talk about just one more TV show (I swear I’m not a couch potato). I may be late to the game, but I just started watching Veep and am freaking OBSESSED!! I would occasionally listen to it while Ryan had it on in the other room and would always laugh to myself but I finally gave in and watched a couple episodes with him and now… totally hooked. I don’t even like politics but it doesn’t even matter. The humor is witty, crude and flat out hilarious and no wonder Julia Louis-Dreyfus always wins an Emmy. If you have HBO, it’s a must-watch!
I just bought my ticket to Miami for my friend Logan’s bachelorette weekend and will definitely be bringing my favorite cover-up. I found an almost identical dupe and it’s currently on sale for under $40. Snatch it up while you can! (Also love this navy and coral striped version). Any recommendations on things to do in MIA? I seriously cannot wait!
Last but not least, derm. Things have been going well at work and I’m learning more and more each day. Still not seeing my own patients, but slowly becoming more independent. I’ve been doing lots of procedures like biopsies, cosmetic removals (skin tags and such), using lasers to treat redness, and assisting with skin surgeries. I still have a long way to go but what I love about this field is that every day is a new challenge and the fact that I can educate patients about their skin. And I’ll be working my way through this book this summer- the learning never stops, y’all!
I hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July. What am I looking forward to most? Sleeping in, of course!! Don’t forget to follow along this weekend on Instagram (@kristinahendley) and Snap Chat (khendley) and TGIF!!!!
