Snow day #3 of the semester is here!! NC hasn’t had this much snow in a while but being in school, I don’t mind. Who doesn’t love a day to just sit around and be lazy? Lounging is what I do best and tomorrow I plan to scratch a few things off of my to-do list that is forever long.

Yesterday we did have an interesting case at school. We got to “save” our first patient while they were having an acute asthma exacerbation (keep in mind this was done on our Harvey models). Ours kept saying to us, “I can’t breathe, I don’t wanna die.” It was definitely nerve-racking because this was our first time completely assessing a patient, ordering/administering meds, ordering labs, and ultimately trying to get their breathing back to normal. We all make mistakes though… Let’s just say we learned to always double check the medicine someone hands you before you push it in the IV! One of our instructors pulled that trick on several of us (whoops!) not to be mean, but to show the importance of always checking to make sure you have the right item before you use it. Overall it was a good experience for us beginners.
